We survived the first warm days of the year. What did you all do?
In addition to our daily activities, we have been cooling off on the beach. How nice it is to have that so close to home. The shady spots in the garden also came in handy and our guests could enjoy breakfast outside.
So with warm weather you are really in the perfect place on Texel. The sea gives a cooling breeze and that makes a day at the beach very comfortable. In addition to the beach, there are plenty of other cooling activities to do, for example go on the water!
Highly recommended is with the TX10 or 20. Join one of these two shrimp cutters and sail a nice bit across the Wadden Sea. During the trip, the skipper explains what will be in the net (namely much more than just shrimp). The fresher than fresh Wadden shrimps are cooked and eaten on board. At the end of the trip you will receive a bag to take home. Hmm..!
The Vriendschap is a Wadden ferry between Texel and Vlieland. It starts near our accommodations, on the beach of post 33. You can do a day trip to Vlieland or a Seal Tour. Both very beautiful!
If you prefer to go out on the water with faster artillery, the Bruuzer is for you. This super-fast powerboat bounces over the waves and you’ll see a lot in no time! Sail past the TESO, the seals, or even to Terschelling!! Great experience but not suitable for those with weak backs. Then you are better off on the deck of the Waddencruise TX44. This ship sails to the Marinehaven in Den Helder and you are guaranteed to see seals along the way. During the cruise you can enjoy delicious food and drinks.
If you prefer to be in (instead of on) the water, cool off at Molenkoog in Den Burg. A lovely outdoor swimming pool with a nice slide and a cozy kiosk and terrace.
Oh yes, surfing is also done a lot on Texel. Popular worldwide and you can rent the necessary equipment on Texel. Of course, you can also take a lesson. This is mainly done along the beach of De Koog.
Of course you can also just find a spot in the shade in our lovely garden!
